mama . yoga + meditation teacher . teacher trainer . mentor . writer
Kate Waitzkin is a mama, yoga + meditation teacher whose passion lies in sharing and spreading the teachings of yoga as a way to explore, heal and deeply reconnect with our bodies, minds and spirits. Through this practice, she believes, we begin to awaken more fully to our daily experiences, our internal guide, and our highest possibilities.
Kate’s teaching is influenced by several yoga traditions and a number of distinguished teachers and mentors with whom she has studied. Kate is recognized for her accessible and potent approach to guided meditation and for creating fluid, rhythmic vinyasa classes with a thoughtful blend of breath-centered flow, inspired sequencing, and purposeful moments of pause and reflection.
Kate created and lead Sunday Ritual, a monthly yoga, meditation and community-centered experience at The South Congress Hotel with Wanderlust Austin and Outdoor Voices. Kate’s guided meditations are featured on the Yoga Wake Up app and her yoga tutorials are featured regularly on CamilleStyles.com.
As a 500-hour ERYT, Kate has taught yoga and meditation since 2005 and has lead teacher training programs for nearly a decade. She co-leads both the 200-hour and 300-hour teacher training programs at Wanderlust Austin. Through her own devoted studentship and experience, she brings a deep respect for the teachings of yoga as a way of life and offers a steady, nurturing support for the work and transformation of students on their own, unique paths to deepen their knowledge and step into the seat of the teacher.
Kate was formally trained through YogaWorks in New York City where she received over 500 hours of training and certification from her teachers and mentors, Jeanmarie Paolillo and Jenny Aurthur. She later received her Prenatal Yoga certification through Jane Austin while living in San Francisco and teaching public classes and teacher trainings for YogaWorks throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Today, Kate’s primary teachers and influences are Yogarupa Rod Stryker and Elena Brower with whom she travels to study annually.
